Why you need plenty of Pond Plants

Without them you would probably have a mushy green soup rather than an attractive feature.

Plant foliage absorbs carbon dioxide and minerals from the water, starving the algae.

Half of the water surface should be covered with foliage.

It is important to get the right balance of Oxygenators (for clearer water), Deep Water Aquatics (soaks up excess nutrients), Marginals (for height and colour) and Floaters to provide shade and prevent algae.
